Description

We’re seeking an entry-level Ruby Engineer to help build and maintain backend services that power our products. You’ll work within a supportive team, contribute to API development, fix bugs, write tests, and learn best practices in a modern Rails environment. This role is ideal for someone with foundational Ruby/Rails experience who is eager to grow, collaborate, and ship reliable software.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend features using Ruby (Rails preferred)
Write clean, testable code with RSpec/Minitest and follow code review feedback
Implement and consume RESTful APIs; integrate with third-party services
Debug issues, fix bugs, and improve application performance
Collaborate with product, design, and senior engineers on tickets and sprints
Participate in standups, planning, and retros; document technical decisions
Follow secure coding practices and adhere to team conventions (linting, CI/CD)

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Solid understanding of Ruby fundamentals; exposure to Rails (models, controllers, views, routes)
Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
Familiarity with version control (Git), branching, and pull requests
Experience writing unit and integration tests (RSpec/Minitest)
Understanding of HTTP, JSON, and REST API concepts
Nice to have: background jobs (Sidekiq), caching, Active Storage, Docker, or cloud platforms
Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
Good communication and collaboration skills in a team setting
