Description

Senior Ruby Engineer role building scalable web applications. Lead technical decisions, mentor team members, and drive major platform initiatives. Work with cross-functional teams in an agile environment focused on quality and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and implement complex distributed systems and microservices

Lead architectural decisions for major features

Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews

Establish engineering best practices and standards

Optimize performance and resolve scalability issues

Implement monitoring and observability solutions

Lead incident response and post-mortems

Evaluate new technologies and tools

Participate in on-call rotation

Present technical proposals to stakeholders

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

6+ years Ruby/Rails development experience
Expert in Rails 6+ and Ruby internals
Strong system design and architecture skills
Database optimization expertise (PostgreSQL)
RESTful API, GraphQL, microservices experience
Comprehensive testing experience (RSpec/Minitest)
Distributed systems and event-driven architecture knowledge
Security best practices (OWASP)
Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Docker and Kubernetes proficiency
CI/CD and deployment automation
Strong leadership and communication skills

Preferred:

Modern frontend frameworks (React/Vue.js)
Multiple programming languages
Real-time systems experience
Open-source contributions
Monitoring tools (DataDog, Prometheus)
Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science
